Great God   [Deceased, 7/1/02]	[July 10, 2002] Richard Mandroian, former treasurer of the city of Bradbury and husband of the mayor, died in his sleep from a heart attack on July 1. He was 54. Although Mandroian was an artist and businessman who shunned public life, he volunteered to be city treasurer following an accounting scandal at City Hall. After former City Manager Dolly Vollaire was caught stealing money from the city, Mandroian helped devise a new system for tracking finances which later won an award. Mandroian was born in Whittier, raised in La Canada Flintridge and later opened Arroyo Hardwoods in Pasadena. As a sculptor and woodworker, he turned the second story of his business into a gallery for his works. "He was an artist who figured out how to make a living," said Jan Teter Mandroian, his wife of 23 years and now the mayor of Bradbury. He is survived by his wife, 20-year-old son Brian and 14-year-old son Tyler. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today at Neighborhood Church, 301 N. Orange Grove Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to Armenian Gospel Mission Inc., P.O. Box 5727, Pasadena, CA 91117. 	[February 9, 2003] Don McKenzie Don passed away in [January 2002 after battling lung cancer for almost two years. As most of you know, Don was a leader on many fronts in our high school days.  He was student body president, All CIF in football and baseball, an accomplished scholar, and participant in just about every type of activity on and off campus. Don graduated from Pomona College in 1969, where he was small college All American in football and baseball.  He began a distinguished career as a teacher in the Denver, Colorado area where he moved in the early 70's.  He also coached varsity football and baseball for many years, and won many awards as a teacher during his almost 30 year career. The impact he had on the lives of his students and colleagues was evident by the overflow crowd of hundreds at a memorial service for Don after his death.  Don leaves two sons, Jeff (35) and Michael (23), and his wife Mary Anne.  Don is really the only person I ve stayed in touch with from high school, and my wife and I have many fond memories of our times together.  We will miss you, Don. Rick Roche`	Rick Roche' Diane (Parrett) Stephens remembers: "Terry [Sewalson] and Rick Roche were not killed at the same time. Terry was killed on a motorcycle in San Luis Obispo around 1971. He and Rick were going to school there. Rick was killed in the fall of 1972. I had breakfast with Rick in Lake Tahoe just before he was to leave on a trip to Mexico to go hunting. I do not know who died with him up on Angeles Crest. 	Ron Williams On June 26, 1975, Special Agents Jack R. Coler and Ronald A. Williams were killed while attempting to serve arrest warrants for robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon on the Oglala Sioux Indian Reservation in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. Four people were indicted for the murders of SAs Williams and Coler. The government dismissed its charges against James Theodore Eagle. Robert Eugene Robideau and Darrelle Dean Butler were acquitted by jury on July 16, 1976. The fourth person indicted for these murders, Leonard Peltier, was convicted and received two consecutive life sentences. Special Agent Williams was born in July of 1947 in Glendale, California. Several years after attending Glendale College and California State College at Los Angeles, he was appointed as a Special Agent in 1972. In 1973, SA Williams transferred to the Minneapolis field office. [from the FBI website] Ron was kind of quiet, not withdrawn, just a softer-spoken thoughtful person. It is so very nice being married to my best friend. But looking at many of your entries, I'm not saying anything that you are not already experiencing. But after being single for so long, I just thought I'd never be saying it. I had worked for the City of Glendale for twenty years, and I just recently retired due to a job-related injury to my lungs. It's still hard getting used to not getting up to drive that seventy miles in to work. But I'll keep practicing until I can get it right: an endeavor I am most capable of accomplishing. I am starting up a new business this year, and if all goes as well as I hope, Janet will be able to retire early so that we can spend more time together. Janet and I like to travel both in and out of the US. We have been fortunate to have travelled in Europe, and in 2006, I was able to realize a childhood dream -- we took a cruise and land trip to Alaska. The trip was to end in Fairbanks, but I extended it one day, and we flew 550 miles north to Barrow. It was June, and the Arctic Ocean was still frozen, and white for as far as one could see. The timing was perfect, as they informed us that in winter the temperature had reached a -80 degrees. After that I didn't feel so bad about getting off the plane with a sleeveless t-shirt in the 30 degree weather. Alaska was well worth the wait. This website is very nice. It brings up so many feelings: some warm with the memory of happy times, and some very sad for those who have gone on before us and for their families. Apologies to all of you who allowed me take their photo at the 40th year reunion. I thought that I had lost the photos, and I just recently recovered them. It's amazing what one encounters when they reorganize. I am in contact with Richard, the webmaster, and I am sending him the photos so that he can put them on display: not only for those whose picture I took, but for all who visit the website. I tried to take everyone's photo, but if I missed anyone...please forgive. We wish all of you the very best -- now and in the times to come.
