	[September 18, 2009] Michael Barbee 1949-2009 Michael Barbee, age 60, died peacefully at his home in Healdsburg, CA, with his family on May 17, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. In his youth he was known for his natural athleticism, his intelligence and his zen-like attitude toward life. As an adult he was an athlete, teacher, author, and health educator, loving husband to Sharon, and proud father to Mara and Derek. He is survived by his wife and children, mother Patricia, sister Karen, and brother Marc. He will be sorely missed. A celebration of his life was held at 11:30, on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Villa Chanticleer Annex, 1248 North Fitch Mountain Rd, Healdsburg. He was born in Lackawanna, N.Y., and an Air Force veteran. Survivors include his daughter, Jerrae; and mother, Alice. Jerry is interred in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. But please, NO family potlucks or picnics!!! I want to see and talk to my classmates (NOT their extended family) in a comfortable setting. Many of us come from some distance and want comfort when we get there. How about a nice catered dinner at a country club or other type of rental facility, with a dancing room and larger separate quiet room with tables for talking and gathering? Considering we only do this every ten years, I'm not at all concerned about the cost. Let's do it right and well because you never know when your last reunion (or your last day of life, for that matter) will be. I doubt that the cost kept anyone from attending. Comments: It's been a long time since 1967, but there is something precious about these faces I knew in childhood, some from elementary school days. I have impressions of many of you that I couldn't even put into words. It's all good, just about life and how we are as young individuals and humans. Those growing up years hold very important memories for me, even if they are buried in the recesses of my mind. Thanks for taking your time to contribute to this site.
