Marlene Mayer is remembered by her friend Mary Withrow: Marlene and I were friends mostly in Clark Jr. High. Her brother was Charlie Mayer. I had dropped out of school in 1967 (class of 1968). I got married and had a baby in 1969. Marlene brought me a present. I never saw her again, but it was early 70's I was told she had commited suicide, but I never got any confirmation on how she died. Marlene was class of '68 also. Marlene was living in La Crescenta and I think it was in the newspaper, but I can't be sure; it's been a long time. I don't know her husband's name or the name or sex of the baby. It was her first. Since it was soon after the birth, perhaps it was post partum depression. I can't tell anyone more than what I have told you. I am surprised no one else has said anything, but perhaps the circumstances of her death made people uncomfortable. -- Mary Withrow |

Ed McCarthy Ed passed away suddenly in December, 2006. Many CVHS alumni were present at his funeral in the San Fernando Valley. Ed was a great person to be around and always in a good mood. He is remembered for his contagious laugh and good humor. He is survived by his wife Debbie and son Kellen. Thank you to Craig Carlson craignjudy@cox.net for providing this information. |

Thom Osborne Marital Status: single Children: no Comments: It has been over thirty years since Thom Osborne and Dewitt House were tragically killed by a drunk driver. He is still missed. I keep in touch with his old girlfriend Kathy Boddiger Jones. Thom had a gift for being kind and friendly to everyone. Actually Thom's full name is William Thompson Osborne. Submitted by his brother Randy Osborne. My brother was killed in June of 1970 by a drunk driver on the I-5 freeway. Most of the people from his class year knew him. I remember reading back in the paper, in I think the 1980's that Matt died in a car crash, while driving his Porsche on Pacific Coast Highway. Bonnie (Rolls) Lathum Marital Status: Married 3 Children: Katie '68, Teresa '75 and Holly' 85 Occupation: Nurse at Folsom State Prison As previously noted, my mom and sister were murdered by my mom's boyfriend on January 16, 2007. We miss them terribly and I know that she wanted to attend your 40th reunion with Faith Travelle, that is if she could've talked Faith into going. My mom cherished her memories of happy times spent with her many friends from Monte Vista, Rosemont & CV. If you have a memory or thought you'd like to share with us about my mom, please email me. I am assembling a book for her grandchildren of such stories, so they can not only remember her, but also learn more about her since they were robbed of their time with her and my sister far too soon. Very sorry to report that 1968 graduate Bonnie Rolls Lathum was murdered by her husband last Tuesday 1-17-07. Bonnie's daughter Teresa who was living with Bonnie and her husband at the time was also murderd by Bonnie's husband who in turn killed himself. I was a co-worker and very close friend of Bonnie at Folsom State Prision. It was a blessing to have known her. I miss her very much. You may want to update you records with this imformation. Kenley Sobieck was listed in the 20-year reunion booklet as having passed away. However, no details were given as to what he had been doing with his life at the time or how he died. Comments: Working at the high school, I see the young faces of all of us, 40 years ago. I love teaching and the challenge of continual growth. Through the years I have learned that each of us possess a unique combination of gifts and talents that were never appreciated in high school. My husband and I moved to Oregon right after we were married in 1972 and raised two children in the small town of Canby, Oregon. Both our children are now in So.
