platform shoes! My high school students have alot of fun
looking through the Falcon year books that I keep in the
classroom. The high school years of our lives are a
treasure, even if we didn't recognise it at the time. After
graduatiion I had careers as a social worker (Portland OR),
a fitness director, park ranger/peace officer, massage
therapist and then landed into teaching for the last 13
years. I am active within the community and "mom Ag" to many
students through their high school years. I enjoy camping,
kayaking, swimming and purchased a horse at the age of 45 (I
am finding that I don't bounce like I used to)! Life is good
on the Central Coast. I look forward to my next dream of
owning a ranch and taking in foster kids! I am uncommitted
to the reunion in July. But who knows? Wishing the class of

married! Darrell is local to Washington State, where I have
lived since 1983. We met in 2007 and were married in

dreams! We have both lived alone for a long time so we are
having fun adjusting to shared life together and plan to do

You talk about midlife crisis -- my wife of 24 years had a
doosey. Here I was, very content on working out my 30 years
with the Oregon Department of Transportation and then
retiring. She had other plans (Thus the reason for my living
in Hawaii). She had the chance of a lifetime (Her words not
mine): to own a funeral home in Kona. There was not one on
the west side of the Island so the demand for one was huge.
It's my time to set my career aside and do something for my
wife's career. It has been 1 year and we're still here. So
keep your fingers crossed and when you're on my little
Island of Paradise, look me up. Sometimes the leap of faith

meetings and soccer practices, along with the realization
that age and gravity have taken a heavy toll!!
Comments: Wow, it's great to still be around and see our
children attempt to do all of things we never tried and live
to tell about it! Currently doing commerical and sports
photography (Long Beach Grand Prix, MLS) and trying to keep
up with everyone's schedule. Chris is junior at USC and
living life large at the moment. Melissa is a senior at
Flintridge Sacred Heart, playing soccer and deciding where
to go to school. Amanda is a sophomore, also at FSHA,
running cross country...Our youngest, Kayla, runs the show
and is 4 going on 14, thanks to her sisters. We had to teach
her age-appropriate songs before starting preschool to cut
down on the complaints from the school...just like her mom,
that one.... Despite the bets against it, Pat and I just
celebrated 26 years of marriage, and are glad for each day!

Comments: I got married right out of school and graduated in
January 77. That didn't last long, DIVORCE, and I got in the
Air Force in 1979. Went to Charlston S.C. and then to Little
Rock AFB. Worked in Combat Engineers. Met my wife's brother
contracting on the Air Base and got invited to a BBQ at his
house -- I met my wife and I have been married for 25 years.
We have 4 children and 4 grandchildren. I got out of the Air
Force in 1983 and worked as a pipefitter and equipment
operator. Started with the Fire Dept. in 1988. We bought the
farm we currently own in 1989. My parents retired in 1990

us. My mom passed away in 2006 and is really missed. My
oldest son is a building contractor. Oldest daughter has a
cattle farm and her husband builds ethanol plants. My
youngest daughter is married to a musician and works for my
excavating company. My youngest son distributes auto parts
and supplies to rebuilders and detailers. Sure seems like a
world away from California down here. I ride a horse to

Comments: I understand a few people have been looking for me
through another alumni site (Randy!, Cathy!) Since my last
posted message from around 1997, my best friend from high
school, Mark White and I "found" each other on the internet,
renewed our friendship and discovered that love knows no
boundaries of time or space. My daughter and I moved to PA
to be with Mark and live closer to his six children (6!).
It's been happily ever after for the past six years. We
would love to hear from anyone who remembers me, us or
SUNFIRE, and would also like to know the whereabouts of our
esteemed science teacher, Jim Akers, last known living in
Jackson, WY but lost track many years ago. We were recently
in La Crescenta and couldn't believe all the changes.
Whatever happened to Taco Siesta? Unfortunately, it was a
family emergency and we were unable to try and contact
anyone. Kent, John S., John and Bonnie W., Randy, Cathy,
Leslie W., you were on our minds and in our hearts - please
e-mail and we will reply. We share fond memories from
physics class to tobacco road, from SUNFIRE to the Golden
Pheasant. I hope you all do too.
Mark and Miki are engaged to be married sometime this coming
spring. We are both healthy and happy and our families are
doing well. Mark is going to be a grandfather for the first
time this summer, and his children are doing well in college
and high school. Miki continues to enjoy her nursing career
and her daughter, Heather has earned distinguished honors in
her classes in high school for the past two years.We are
currently residing in the infamous Pocono Mountains of the
