Reunion: I left CV in after 10th grade to go to college
since I knew exactly what I wanted to do and was chomping at
the bit to get to it. Partly because of that I've lost
contact w/ a lot of people and am not on any lists for class
of '81 but a lot of us grew up together and I'd love to
re-connect. I stayed in Biology all these years with stints
in computers and songwriting and now writing but biology and
wildlife rescue are my main passions. Also I'm very into
anything Irish and speak the Northern dialect (Donegal). I
never married I guess because of being too involved in the
career and such. I did finally quit "showbiz" although my
sister is a stuntwoman and "stayed in". So that's about it.

Laura Lynn O'Hair was born on the
evening of October 1st, 1963 in her father's 1958 Ford in
front of Crippen's Mortuary on Honolulu Ave. By the time she
arrived at Glendale Memorial Hospital, it was after midnight
so her official birthday is the 2nd of October!
Laura attended Lincoln Elementary, Clark
Junior High and Crescenta Valley High where she met her
future husband, Todd Thornbury. Upon graduating high school,
the two of them attended Glendale College and then
transferred to Cal State Northridge where Laura earned a
Master's Degree in education. Laura then began her career at
Mark Keppel Elementary along side her mother, 5th grade
teacher Linda O'Hair. Laura then found her way to Fremont
Elementary where she taught 4th and eventually 6th grade
under her friend and mentor, Principal Dr. Cynthia
Livingston.
In April 1987 Laura married her high
school sweetheart Todd after a 7-year romance. Two years
later--to the day--a son, Winston, was born. Three years
after that a beautiful daughter, Madison, was born and then
in 1996 a fiery redhead, Morgan, joined the
family.
Laura had a passion for her family, her
dogs, her students, motorcycle riding, travel, reading,
crafts, cooking and entertaining. Her home was always
decorated to the nines and ready for a party.
Three years ago Laura was diagnosed with
stage 3 Triple Negative breast cancer. Laura took on this
challenge with the same determination and positive attitude
she was always known for. She continued teaching during her
treatments right up until last month.
As life so often does, Laura has come
full circle and was returned to Crippens Mortuary after
passing on Monday, December 29th. Her memorial service was
held Saturday, January 17, 2009, at the family's church, La
Canada Presbyterian.
Besides her husband and children, Laura
is survived by her parents, Don and Linda O'Hair, her
brother Micheal O'Hair, her grandmother Jean Abbott
Stephenson, her aunts and cousins and many other family
members who will truly miss her. She will also be deeply
missed by many friends, coworkers, students both present and
past, and Beatrice her beagle.
In lieu of flowers, her family asks that
donations be made in Laura's honor to Fremont Elementary to
help fund Laura's Literacy Garden Project. Checks can be
made payable to GUSD/Laura's Project and mailed to/dropped
off at 3320 Las Palmas Ave, Glendale, CA 91208.

Frank A. "Frankie" Russo, Jr.
Frankie Russo, a graduate of the CV class of 1981,
passed away on March 1, 2009 from the complications of a
stroke he suffered two days earlier. Frankie, was known as
the constantly smiling restauranteur at his family's
business, Dominick's Italian Restaurant. Dominicks is a La
Crescenta institution, where Frankie knew all of his
customer's not just by name, but by food order, too. Frankie
was truly a gentleman, a charming business person, known and
respected throughout the Crescenta Valley. For many years,
Frankie juggled the management of the family business with
his other passion, sports, particularly softball. In 1990
Frankie joined Sierra Madre's Alverno High School as its
head softball coach. In the 19 years Frankie served as the
head coach, he developed one of the most dominating softball
programs in the San Gabriel Valley. His teams captured more
than a dozen league championships and made it to the CIF
finals twice. In 2003, Frankie was named the San Gabriel
Valley coach of the year, and the following year, he led
Alverno to its first CIF softball championship. Although an
accomplished competitor and coach, Frankie recognized the
importance of character and academics. Accordingly, he put
his students' studies and personal welfare ahead of their
athletic development. This philosophy served him, and his
students and their families well, not just on the softball
field, but throughout his 13 year tenure as Alverno's
athletic director. With his playing days behind him, Frankie
remained a member of the Dominicks' men's softball club, a
team of CV grads who will continue to compete in his memory
and honor. Frankie will be missed by all that knew him. He
is survived by his mother and father, Frank and Carmela and
his brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Judy of Rancho
Cucamonga. Frankie's funeral mass was conducted on March 6,
2009 at St. James. His burial at San Fernando Mission
cemetery followed. Donations in Frankie's honor can be made
to the American Diabetes Association.

Comments: Wow! -- look what I found on the net: all the
people from school...well I didn't graduate so no old
photo...I have done so much so I'll make it short as
possible. Did electrical for 5 yrs then right into the music
bizz. Now 22yrs in it as a guitar aka roadie...been around
the world 7 times, lived in Ireland 2yrs, East Berlin 1yr,
spent a ton of time overseas. Seems I get hired to do metal
or rock bands so now is the time I get to name drop; I've
earned it. 11yrs w/ Def Leppard and still w/ them, Judas
Priest, Janes Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins, Rammstein,
Stryper 7yrs through the 80s, Fine Young Can ibals, Camp F
reddy All Star Band, Slash and Dave Navarro. Teched and
played on 4 albums. Had a ton of fun just not hmm much
[money] but oh, well -- gonna have a ton of stories
for the grand children...I dont think I'll be around for any
reunion. I'll try....have fun! Maybe I'll see some of ya at
a big rock show on the next Def Leppard tour.....see
ya.
